How Catchers Handle Pitchers

As a pitcher, I can tell you we can be some pretty big babies up on that mound sometimes.  Whether we’re whining about a call, pouting about an error, or begging for that outside corner, pitchers can be 100% frooty juice on the mound!


As a coach, one of my favorite sayings when asked how I handle my players is, “To handle 18 players, you have to speak 18 different languages.”  This is no different for a catcher.  Handling each team’s individual pitchers can be a task in itself, but a task that can truly define a successful catcher. Here's what I like my catchers to learn about their battery mates:
